MAGDALENA KAUL DEAD She Was in Her 94th Year and Mother of Rev. A. F. Kaul. Mrs. Magdalena Kaul died on Tuesday evening at the Sacred Heart academy at the advanced age of 94 years, being one of the oldest women in the city. She was in failing health for a year, but her death was hastened through injuries received in a fall three months ago. Mrs. Kaul was born in Grombach, Baden, Germany, on February 20, 1804. She was married to Pirmin Kaul in 1830, and in 1880 they celebrated their golden wedding. He died in 1883. Mr. and Mrs. Pirmin Kaul emigrated to America in 1847 and settled in Philadelphia; after a residence of a few years they removed to Adamstown, this county, where they engaged in farming. In 1857 they moved to Reading and resided there until 1877, when they came to this city and moved into the house, No. 516 East Orange street, which they built. After the death of her husband, Mrs. Kaul made her home with her son, Rev. Anthony F. Kaul. At the time of Mrs. Kaul's accident everything was in confusion at Father Kaul's house, preparatory to his removal to the new rectory, and she was taken to the Sacred Heart academy, and her condition was such that she could not be moved to her son's new home. She took an active interest in the affairs of St. Anthony's church, had a remarkable memory and distinctly remembered things that occurred in her early childhood. Her surviving children are John, Mrs. Antoinette Burger, Sister Mary Stanislaus, in charge of the Sacred Heart academy, Miss Mary, of this city and Brother Leopold, an instructor in the Notre Dame (Indiana) college. Her funeral will take place on Friday morning and a large number of clergymen will be present to take part in the services. Lancaster Intelligencer, Wednesday, August 11, 1897 DEATHS.
