Kern, 77 years old, of Red Run, Brecknock township, died at his home yesterday morning at 11 o’clock from a complication of diseases. The deceased was a retired farmer and a member of the Lutheran church, Reamstown. For fifty years he conducted a store at Red Run. He was one of the founders of the Denver National bank and was a director of the Institution until two years ago. He was also one of the founders of the Farmers National bank, New Holland, and of the Enterprise Telephone Company. He is survived by his widow who before marriage was Miss Lizzie Gockley, and three children: Mable, wife of William Weinhold; Jacob at home; Clarence, of Red Run, and Bessie, wife of Luke Witman, of Adamstown. Five grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 1 o’clock at the late home and at 1:30 o’clock at the Lutheran and Reformed church, Reamstown. Interment will be made in Muddy Creek cemetery. Conveyances will meet the 10:45 and 11:15 trollies at Reamstown. Lancaster Daily Intelligencer, March 20, 1924
