Frank Long, age 56 Years, resident of route #1 Anneville, died this morning at 2:30 in Harrisburg hospital as a result of injuries and shock sustained during an accident on Thanksgiving day. Reverend Chris Oberholtzer of the Anneville vicinity was the driver of the car when the accident occurred at East Berlin, York County. Mr Long and 3 other occupants, whose names were not disclosed, were traveling to attend gospel services in Hanover, York county. The Deceased was a member of the Gospel Tabernacle. Survivors are his wife Mamie nee Putt, 2 Daughters Mrs Sarah Winey, Richfield , Pa , Mrs Katheryn Leese Route # 1 Anneville, Son Ammon Long Rt 2 Anneville, also 6 grandchildren, 1 sister Mrs Lundy Zurin Mt Joy rd. Stepfather William Derr Florin Pa. Half sisters. Mrs Joseph Wickenheiser, Myerstown, Mrs John Wittle Florin. Half Brother Harry Derr. J.FRANK LONG DIES AFTER CAR CRASH J.Frank Long of Anneville RD# 1, died early Saturday in Harrisburg hospital of injuries received thanksgiving night in a 2 car collision near East Berlin. Long, who was 56 years old, died of a skull fracture," Dauphin Co. coroner Dr Earl H. Grimm said". "He was a passenger in a car operated by Chris Oberholtzer of Anneville, when Oberholtzer's machine and a car operated by J. E. Renoll of East Berlin R 1 collided on routet 194, 3 miles north of East Berlin", state police said. He is survived by his wife Mamie nee Putt and 2 daughters Katheryn Leese and Sarah R. Winey and one son Ammon Long of Anneville RD# 2 . Long was a native of Lancaster county and operated a small chicken farm. Additional Comments: There are actually 2 obituaries in this one. I think one is more of an article on the crash rather than a true Obituary. I do not know which newspapers the articles came from but his niece, Florence Long had copies in her scrap book. Due to the location of the crash, residence of the deceased and him being born in Manheim, Lancaster County, the articles could have come from more than one paper.
