Mayer, an aged and respected citizen, died at his home, No. 502 High street, about five o'clock on Wednesday evening. The cause of death was paralysis. Mr. Mayer was stricken on Monday, when he took his bed. About two months ago he fell and dislocated his shoulder. He had just recovered from that injury, when he received the stroke which resulted in his death. Deceased was sixty-four years of age. He was a native of Fillingen, Baden, Germany. He came to America in 1847, and in 1852 he located in Lancaster. He was a shoemaker by trade. Almost two score years ago he was incapacitated from work by a paralytic stroke which crippled his lower limbs and he was unable to work. A wife and three children survive, George E., the well-known marble cutter, who has an establishment at No. 254 West King street, John, who is in California, and Mrs. John P. Scheid. Mr. Mayer was a member of St. Joseph's church, where services will be held on Friday morning. The remains will be interred in St. Joseph's cemetery.
