George McVey, a machinist of fine attainments, died about six o'clock this morning at the residence of Mr. J. P. McCaskey, at Mulberry and West King streets. The cause of death was a complication of diseases, chief of which was an affection of the heart. He has been ill since last summer. He came to Lancaster from New York, intending to remain here a couple of days with his sister, Miss E. McVey, who resides with the McCaskey family. His condition was such, however, that he was unable to go, and his health steadily grew worse. Mr. McVey had a situation waiting on him at the Baldwin Locomotive Works, Philadelphia, but his illness prevented his acceptance of the position. Deceased was thirty-eight years of age. He was formerly a resident of Lancaster and his family was well known here. The body will be taken to Philadelphia and interred in Laurel Hill cemetery.
