Mrs. John Merkel

Manheim, June 19. – Mrs. Hannah Merkel, widow of John Merkel, who died nine 
years ago, departed this life at the home of her son-in-law, Clayton Gibble, on 
North Charlotte street, this place, at 11:15 o’clock yesterday morning, after a 
five months’ illness, from grip, aged 69 years.  She was a member of the 
Methodist church for a number of years.

She is survived by two children, Annie, wife of Clayton Gibble, this place, and 
J. H. Merkel, Reading; also two brothers, Josiah High, St. Louis, Mo.; and Mabry 
High, of Oley, Berks county.

The funeral will take place from the home of her demise on Wednesday afternoon 
at two o’clock, with interment in Fairview cemetery, south of this place.  Revs. 
A. O. Bartholomew and Harry Evault will officiate.
