Messner retired undertaker of Bowmansville was well attended. He conducted the undertaker business for 34 years. Rev. Wickert, Welder and Bishop Benj. Weaver officiated. Services and interment took place at Center church. His age was 65 years, 5 months and 14 days. The bearers were John M. Gehman, Isaac Walter, Wm. Brendle, Martin Kern, F. S. Stover and Samuel Wise. He was dressed in a black suit and rested in a square cornered solid mahogany casket, with silver trimmings, extension bar handles and plate with "Father" on it, lined with soft satin lining and couch pillow. Encased in an aluminum grave vault. The tributes were lilies from son Rhine and wife and crysantheums son Eness and wife. Francis F. Seidel of Reading had charge of the funeral.
