Robert Nicol, a well-known citizen, died at the residence of his son- in-law, David Reese, No. 15 Church street, at eleven o'clock this morning, of bronchitis, after a long illness. Mr. Nicol was born in Scotland, and was in his 73d year. He came to this country in 1848, and settled in this city. After working a year in Boardman's cork factory, he went into the cloth room of No. 2 Cotton Mill, where he worked until 1869, when he went to Sterling, Ill. There he was an engineer in Tracy & Gaul's agricultural machine works until March, 1888, when he returned to this city, and has since resided with his son-in-law. He was a member of Metamora Tribe No. 2, I.O.R.M., a staunch Republican and a good citizen. Six children survive him, Robert Nicol, of Rock Falls, Ill.; James Nicol, of Chicago; Mrs. Jefferson Blair, of Chicago; Mrs. John W. Powell, Mrs. Chas. I. Stormfeltz, and Mrs. David Reese, of this city. The funeral will take place on Monday afternoon at 2 P.M. Interment in Woodward Hill cemetery.
