He was carried to the house and a physician was sent for, but in a few minutes he breathed his last. Mr. Powl was in his sixty-second year of his age and had always enjoyed good health and on the morning of his death appeared to be in a particularly happy mood. He leaves an invalid wife and six children, (the latter all married except the youngest son), to mourn his sudden departure. He was one of the most esteemed citizens in the community, and on Wednesday hundreds of his friends and neighbors assembled at his funeral to pay their last tribute of respect to his memory. New Holland Clarion, June 8, 1878 Additional Comments: Josiah was the husband of Barbara (Gerber) Powl
