Edwin Rea died on Saturday night in St. Joseph's hospital, from typhoid fever, after an illness of three weeks. He was 30 years old, a son of Robert and the late Mary Rea, and was born near Cooperville, this county. He was employed as a salesman in the dress goods department at Hager & Bros.' store for seven years and was held in high esteem by his employers. His wife and one child, Helen, survives, and also a brother, Prof. Howard Rea, of Westfield, Tioga county. He was a member of the Artisans' Order of Mutual Protection, Knights of Malta, Junior Order United American Mechanics and the Presbyterian church. His funeral will take place on Wednesday morning from his residence, No. 924 Columbia avenue, Rev. Dr. Mitchell conducting the services at the house, after which the remains will be taken on the Seashore express to Gap, where services will be held in Bellevue Presbyterian church, Rev. Cairnes officiating, with interment in the cemetery adjoining. Lancaster Intelligencer, Monday, March 22, 1897
