(Lancaster, Pa.) 1864-1928: April 19, 1880 Samuel Shertz, a single man, about 50 years of age, who resided in Paradise, where ho owned a little property, has been missing from home since Thursday and it is believed that he drowned himself in Mill creek. He was at the store in Gordonville on Thursday, at which time he purchased a pair of shoes and asked for a collar that would fit him tightly. He also asked where the place was where Charles Bakestraw drowned himself several years ago. A later report says that the body of Shertz has been found in Mill creek.
