In 1849 there came to this country from Ireland, Owen Scott. He drifted to the vicinity of Quarryville where he worked for two years until he saved enough money to send to the old country to bring over his wife and five children. He soon managed to get a home, where he lived with his family until 1856, when his wife died. On Saturday he was buried at St. Catharine's church, in Drumore, at the good old age of 82. He has always been a devout member of this church and his character and worth as a citizen were attested to by one of the largest funerals ever held at that place. Mr. Scott was an active man for his age until last Monday when he was stricken with paralysis, from which he died on Thursday. He was a very zealous Democrat and never missed an election. For the last four years he has been living with his son Patrick, on his farm in Eden township. He leaves four sons, Michael, Patrick, James and Dennis; one daughter, Mrs. Mary Pickel.
