He Passes Away Very Suddenly at His Home. WITMER, March 9 – John A. Sollenberger, of near Bird-in-Hand, was in Lancaster on Monday to get ready to assist at his brother's sale, on Tuesday. After he stepped from the 1 o'clock train at Bird-in-Hand he suffered a paralytic stroke. His son was there with a carriage and took him home, where he died soon after. He was born in Earl township, and moved to his late residence years ago. He taught school for a number of years, and acted as clerk at sales. He was a candidate for register of wills some years ago. His age was 65 years. His funeral will be held at Heller's church on Thursday at 11 o'clock where services will be held and interment will be made. Mr. Sollenberger went to Lancaster on mail train in the morning and then appeared to be in good health. After transacting his business he returned home on Sea Shore Express. He started to the postoffice, and on his return was stricken on the sidewalk. He fell over, and was carried into the hotel of D. M. Herr, but afterwards taken to his home, where he died in a short time, without regaining consciousness. He was a very active Republican and leaves two children, Mrs. Katie Weiker, of Philadelphia, and Swope Sollenberger. Lancaster Intelligencer, Tuesday, March 9, 1897
