He Was Prominent in the Work of Grace Lutheran Church. Edward D. Sprecher, a well known and popular young man, died at 2:20 o'clock this morning at his residence, No. 234 East Walnut street. Three weeks ago he was attacked with brain fever. He was considered to be in a critical condition for the past week and his death was not unexpected. Deceased was the only son of Captain Philip L. Sprecher, and was born in this city and graduated from the high school in the class of 1884. After graduating he attended Weidler's commercial college and after graduating from that institution he accepted a position as bookkeeper at Evans & Coyle's foundry on North Cherry alley. He remained with tat firm until March 1, 1887, when he was elected to a clerkship in the Farmers' National bank. He was promoted from time to time until he became ledger clerk, which position he filled at the time of his death. He was a prominent member of Grace Lutheran church and secretary of the board of officers. He was an active worker in the Sunday school and for the past three years was the superintendent. He was also an active member of the Luther league of Grace Lutheran church and was president for one term. The various church organizations of which he was a member will meet tomorrow evening to take appropriate action on his death. His wife survives. Their only child died a year ago. In another section of the paper: DEATHS. SPRECHER. – In this city, on the 9th inst., Edward D. Sprecher, in the 29th year of his age. The relatives and friends, also Lancaster Council, No. 912, Jr. O. U. A. M., are respectfully invited to attend the funeral, from his late residence, No. 234 East Walnut street, on Friday at 2 o'clock. Services at Grace church, Cor. North Queen and James streets.
