Jacob Stoe died at 10 o'clock this morning at his home, No. 413 High street. He had been in ill health from asthma for over a year, but was only confined to the house for ten days. He was born in Heidelburg, Germany, 69 years ago and emigrated to this country with his family. He settled in Lancaster, where he has since lived. He was a stonemason by trade and worked for the Pennsylvania railroad company and for contractors in this city until he became disabled. He served on the German hospital corps during the Franco-Prussian war. He was a member of the German military society and secretary of the Germania Maennerchor and the Schiller Verein. He belonged to St. Joseph's Catholic church, and leaves a wife and seven children, Andrew, Anthony, Jacob, Annie, wife of Jacob Siebert; Frieda, wife of Harry H., Hollis, of Wilmington, Del.; Rosa, wife of Charles E. Sener, and George, at home. He will be buried Tuesday morning. Mass will be said at St. Joseph's church at 9 o'clock; interment at St. Joseph's cemetery. Lancaster Intelligencer, October 10, 1903
