Lewis Stone died on Sunday morning, at the home of Mrs. Margaret Gerz, No. 423 North Mulberry street. He was in bad health for a number of years, but the direct cause of his death was paralysis, with which he was stricken early in the morning. Deceased was seventy-six years old and was very well known, having worked in the homes of a number of prominent men in this city. He was employed for a number of years by John R. Montgomery, who resided many years ago where Dr. William Blackwood now lives, on South Queen street. For a number of years he was a key driver on the Pennsylvania railroad, and he also did night nursing for the sick, having taken care of the late Col. Hambright through his illness. A son and a daughter survive. He was a member of St. Joseph's church, in which funeral services will be held on Wednesday morning, at nine o'clock, with high mass. Interment will be made in St. Joseph's cemetery. Lancaster Intelligencer, Monday, March 15, 1897
