M. Peck, of 705 Eighteenth street, received word that her brother, Nathaniel Trout, of Leaman Place, twelve miles from Lancaster, had been killed some time yesterday morning. He was employed as a pit-man by the Pennsylvania Railroad company. It is thought he was run down by a train. Deceased was aged 45 years and leaves a wife and five children: William, George, Nathaniel, Clyde and Sallie; also two brothers, Isaac and Robert and three sisters, Mrs. Isabella Frego and Mrs. Susan Rhyneir, both of Lancaster county, and Mrs. R. M. Peck, of this city. Mr. Peck and family will leave to-day to attend the funeral. Relative to the above an Associated Press telegram from Lancaster, under date of December 26, says: Nathaniel Trout, a track-walker on the Pennsylvania railroad, was found dead along the road near Leaman Place this morning. When Harrisburg express reached this city last night a handkerchief and blood stains were found on the pilot, and it is supposed it struck and killed Trout. Both legs and arms were broken and the body was badly cut. Morning Tribune (Altoona), Wednesday, December 27, 1899
