Frank Watson, a former resident of Columbia, died at his home in Philadelphia, on Saturday, from a complication of diseases and infirmities of his age. The deceased was 75 years old and for many years was employed as a baggagemaster on the Pennna. [sic] railroad running between Columbia and Philadelphia. Later he acted in the same capacity on through runs out of Philadelphia. Several years ago he was pensioned and placed on the retired list since which time he made his home in Philadelphia. The funeral will be held on Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock from the home of his daughter, Mrs. Cornelius Hertzler, No. 2400 Sharswood street Philadelphia. The interment will be private. The deceased is survived by the following children, his wife having died about one year ago: Martha, wife of George Lucas, Columbia; John A. Watson, Syracuse, N.Y.; Jennie, wife of Cornelius Hertzler; Lydia, wife of William Adair; Clinger, Elmer, Clayton and Mary, all of Philadelphia. Mr. Watson was a veteran of the Civil War and was a member of General Welsh Post No. 118, G. A. R. He was also a member of Columbia Lodge, No. 286, F. & A. M.; Brethren Employes' [sic] Association, Philadelphia Division, P. R. R.; Baggagemasters' Relief Association and P. R. R. Relief Association. Lancaster Intelligencer, February 5, 1917
