Westcott, in his 72d year [1826] died suddenly on Tuesday evening at his home in Oxford. His sister, Mrs. Winters, had assisted him up the stairs to go to his room and they reached the landing he expired. Dr. F. P. Hutchinson was called, but the spirit had flown. Mr. Westcott had been unwell since October 25, having had a touch of pneumonia. He was born at Unicorn, Lancaster county, a son of William C. and Mary Westcott. He learned the trade of stone mason and worked in his native county, also farmed the home place. From Unicorn he moved to Hopewell and resided seven years, location in Oxford about 16 years [1889] ago. He was unmarried. Mr. Westcott was a strong Democrat in politics and was one of Board of Auditors of Chester county for three years. He was a trustee of First Baptist Church of Oxford and was one of its most faithful members. One sister and one brother survive, Mrs. Margaret J. Winters, who kept house for the deceased, and James H. Westcott, of Wilmington. The funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. in the First Baptist church on Friday, Nov. 3.
