On the 28th day of December, in the year one thousand seven hundred and fifty- seven, I Jacob Chunrath in Donegal Township, Lancaster County, in the Province of Pennsylvania, am ill and weak in my body but in good reason and understanding, thanks be given to God, that he appoints to all men once to die and I make and order this my Last Will and Testament, that is to say for all things ... I give and recommend my soul to God who gave it and my body to be given a Christian burial. God understands my worldly agreements and He has blessed my life. This is my last will and testament. I give the following After my death all bills shall be paid. Then I give to my beloved wife Christina Chunrath the plantation, 227 acres of land with the house, and house furniture, and she shall raise the young children during their minority, and she shall remain single until the youngest son is grown up. When the youngest son becomes of age the land shall be divided between the two sons, each half with all appertenances, and they shall pay the sister her share. The oldest son Daniel shall get £5 extra. The oldest son to take care of his mother; When he gets married the younger son shall take care of her She shall live there and shall be given each year food and fodder for the cow, 100 lbs. of meat, and 10 bushels of wheat.
