All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/lancaster/ _______________________________________________ Source: Lancaster Co, Pa, Will Book A-1, Page 209 Written: March 11, 1768 Recorded: April 2, 1768 John Crocket of Derry Township, Lancaster Co, PA, Dated 11 March 1768; probate 2 April 1768 Executors: wife Jean Crocket and Robert Bradshaw Witnesses: David Ramsey, Samuel Reed Children (all four are minor sons): Thomas, Robert, John, James In the Name of God Amen I John Crocket of the Township of Derry in the County of Lancaster being Sick & Weak in Bydy but of Sound and disposing mind and Memory do make this my Last Will and Testament in manner following/ yt is to say First I commend my Soul into ye hands of Almighty God my Creator hoping thro' his Mercy and the Merits of Jesus Christ to be eternally happy and my Body I commit to the Earth to be Decently enterred at ye Discretion of my Executors hereafter mentioned and as to my Worldly Substance Wherewith it hath Pleased God to Bless me I Give & Bequeath ye same as follows to wite Imprimis it is my Will that all my Just Debts & funeral expences be paid and Discharged with all Convenient Speed after my decease First I appoint my beloved Wife Jean Crocket to keep the Plantation and Children Free of Expences for one year I Likewise appoint her to Let or Cause to be Let the Place upon the shares of a fit hand I Likewise appoint at the Discreation of my Executors to Expose to Seal all my Effects that I am now Endowed with and to be devided in the mener following that is to Say first I Give and bequeath to my beloved Wife the third part and the Remender or Rest of my Estate to be equaly Devided Between my four Sons that is to say thomas Rabert and John & Jeams if any of the four Dies Before they Come of age he or their part shall be qualy Divided amongst those that Survive Likwis I apoint that my four Sons Before mentioned be put to treads as Soon as Oppertunety I Likewis Impower any of my Children to Receive or Colect that part of my fathers Estate was Left to me in Iearland and to Devide it Equaly among the Rest of my Children I Likewise appoint that whosoever gets the Children is to Learn them to Read the English tungue perfect and the five Common Rules in Cyphering I appoint my beloved wife Jean Crockat & Rabert Bradshaw of the said Township & County Exacutors of this my Last will & Testamant In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & Seal this 11 of March in ye year of our Lord one thousand Seven Hundred & Sixty eight John Creket (seal) Sined Sealed published pronounced & Declared by the Testator in the Presence of us David Ramsey Samuel Reed On the Second Day of April Anno Domini 1768, Before me the Subscriber Personally appeared David Ramsey and Samuel Reed the two Subscribing Witnesses to the above Will and on the Corporal Oaths Did Depose and Say that they were present & Saw and heard John Crocket the Testator above Named Sign Seal Publish Pronounce and Declare the above as and for his Last Will and Testament and that at the Doing thereof he was of Sound and well Disposing Mind Memory & Understanding to the best of their Knowledg Observation & Belief. Edwd Shippen Dy Rr Be it Remembered that on the Second Day of April Anno Domini 1768, the Last Will and Testament of John Crocket Late of Dery Township in the County of Lancaster yeoman deceased was Proved in due form of Law and Letters Testamentary thereon was Granted to Jean Crocket and Robert Broadshaw the Executors therein Named they being First Duly Qualified Well and Truly to administer the Estate of the Decedent and to Exhibit a true and Perfect Inventory thereof into the Registers Office at Lancaster on or before the Second Day of May Next and to render a true and Just account of their Administration on the said Estate when thereto Lawfully Required Given under the Seal of the Said Office at Lancaster the Day and Year above Mentioned.
