I Daniel Hahn of Cocalico township in the County of Lancaster being aged but of sound mind memory and understanding Thanks be to God, for the same calling to mind the uncertainty of my life do upon this twenty third day of March, in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and thirty eight make this my last will and Testament in manner following Imprimis, I recommend my soul to God, who gave it and my body I commit to the earth to be decently interred at the discression of my Executors hereinafter named, in humble hopes of a glorious resurrection and an happy admission into the regions of bliss and Immortality in and through the mediation of Jesus Christ my redeemer. Item, after my just debts and funeral expenses are paid, It is my will that my daughter, Mary, shall have the following articles, (viz:) one Mahogany drawer, and what is therein, and thereon, the walnut kitchen dresser and what is therein, one dining table, one walnut table, one partly new chest, six partly new chairs, one Spinning wheel, and reel, one mettle kettle, two mettle pots, a baking plate, one skillet, one pan, one set of Ladles, flesh fork and other articles, one dough trough, one new bedsted and beding thereto, Five coverlets, three quilts, her choice of one of our cows or heifers, or the price thereof, some pewter basins, dishes, plates, spoons, one small brass kettle, bed sheets & table cloths, hand towels, my silver watch, these bequests I give her over and besides her equal share with my other children in keeping house for us during the lifetime of my wife, and since her decease for me. The remainder of my estate real & personal shall be sold, by my executors to the highest and best bidder, and the money arising out of the sale thereof, shall be divided to and among all my Children, share & share alike, the children of my deceased son Jacob shall have their father’s share, share & share alike, Archibald and Jacob now of the State of Ohio, Anna who was intermarried with Bernhard Reichart of Franklin County, merchant since deceased, shall have one, Louisa intermarried with Daniel Spielman, Delia intermarried with one Thorn or Thomas, each of these named shall have their fathers share, share & share alike, my son Daniel one share, my son Samuel one share, and my daughter Mary one share beside what I have given for keeping house for us as before mentioned. And finally I constitute and appoint Executors of this my last will and testament my two trusty & beloved sons Daniel Hahn and Samuel Hahn declaring this and no other to be and contain my last will and testament, revoking all others. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal, the said twenty third day of March 1838 as before mentioned. Witness present at signing Jacob Shirk, Jun’r Zacheus Killian Lancaster County On the 7th day of March Anno Domini 1840 before me the subscriber personally appeared Jacob Shirk and Zacheus Killian the subscribing witnesses to the preceeding will who on their solemn affirmations say that they were present and saw and heard Daniel Hahn the testator therein named sign, seal, publish, pronounce and declare the same to be his last will and testament, and at the doing thereof he was of sound and well disposing mind memory and understanding to the best of their knowledge observation and belief. Jacob Foltz, Deputy Register March 7th 1840 Letters testamentary granted to Daniel Hahn and Samuel Hahn the Executors they being duly affirmed well and truly to administer the goods and chattels rights and credits of the said testator according to Law and that they will diligently and faithfully regard and well and truly comply with the provisions of the Law relating to Collateral Inheritances.
