I, Adam Lorah, of the Township of Brecknock, County of Lancaster and State of Pennsylvania, being of sound mind, memory and understanding, do hereby make, publish and declare this to be my last will and testament, hereby reboking any and all wills by me at any time heretofore makde. 1. I order and direct my hereinafter named executor to pay all my just debts and funeral expenses. He shall make all arrangements for my funeral and shall conduct my burial as nearly as possible in the same manner in which my late wife's burial was conducted. My casket shall be of chestnut wood and the rough box is also to be of wood. 2. I give and bequeath the sum of two hundred ($200.00) dollars unto the Alleghany Union Cemetery, in trust nevertheless, the income arising from the same to be used for the perpetual care of my burial lot. 3. I order and direct my hereinafter named executor to sell and convert into cash mony all my estate, real, personal and mixed of whatsoever nature and wheresoever the same may be situate, and after the payment of the above items and expenses of settling my estate, together with the collateral inheritance tax due, I direct that the same shall be divided into fifteen equal shares, and I give and bequeath the same as follows: (a) One equal share thereof I give and bequeath in equal shares to the heirs of my deceased brother, Charles Lorah, to wit: Harry D. Lorah, Edward Lorah, Ida Lorah Mohler, all of near Bowmansville, Pa., Lillie Lorah Kramer, of near Fritztown, Pa., and Mary Lorah Zerbe, of Gouglersville, Pa. (b) One equal share hereof I give and bequeath unto my brother, John Lorah, of near Bowmansville, Pa., and in the event that he should predecease me, then I give and bequeath his said share unto his son, Milton Lorah, of Joanna, Pa. (c) One equal share thereof I give and bequeath unto my brother James Lorah, of Reamstown, Pa., his heirs and assigns. (d) One equal share thereof I give and bequeath in equal shares unto the heirs of my deceased sister, Isabella Lorah Wolfskill, to wit: Daisy Wolfskill Ansel, Sallie Wolfskill Rathman, Mabel Wolfskill Zwally, all of Reamstown, Pa., Annie Wolfskill Sharp, of Ephrata, Pa., Nora Wolfskill Schlegel, of Stevens, Pa., and George Wolfskill, of Reading, Pa. (e) One equal share thereof I give and bequeath unto my sister, Amanda Lorah Martin, of Martindale, Pa., her heirs and assigns. (f) One equal share thereof I give and bequeath unto my sister, Elizabeth Lorah Kessler, her heirs and assigns, of Ocee, Tennessee. (g) One equal share thereof I give and bequeath in equal shares unto the heirs of my deceased sister, Sallie Lorah Ruoss, to wit: Edwin Ruoss, of West Lawn, Pa., Harvey Ruoss, of Sinking Springs, Pa., Edna Ruoss Fox, of Reading, Pa., Charles Ruoss, of Orlando, Florida, Ida Ruoss Bender, Mamie Ruoss, Samuel Ruoss, James Ruoss, Anna Ruoss, Sarah Ruoss and Nancy Ruoss, all of RFD #2, Sinking Springs, Pa. (h) One equal share there of I give and bequeath in equal shares unto the heirs of my deceased wife's brother, John Frees, to wit: Jacob Frees, of RFD #1, Johnton, Pa., William Frees, of RFD #1, Reading, Pa., Maggie Frees Steffy, of Shillington, Pa., Celia Frees Styer, of RFD #2, Mohnton, Pa., and to the heirs of Lizzie Frees Zeigler, to with: Katie Zeigler Segner, of Birdsboro, Pa., and Ella Zeigler Seifrit, of RFD #1, Mohnton, Pa., they to take the same share of this share as their deceased parent would have taken if living. (i) One equal share thereof I give and Bequeath unto my deceased wife's brother, Israel Frees, his heirs and assigns, of Ephrata, Pa. (j) One equal share thereof I give and bequeath in equal shares unto the heirs of Sarah Frees Guigley, deceased, to wit: Lizzie Foltz Kramer, RFD #1, Mohnton, Pa., Mary Guigley Steffy, of RFD #1, East Earl, Pa., Katie Quigley Lorah, of Joanna, Pa., Charles Guigley, of Mohnton, Pa., Esther Gaul Ruffner, daughter of Stellea Guigley, deceased, and to the heirs of Emma Guigley Witmer, deceased, as follows: Daisy Witner Gehman, of Mohnton, Pa., Sadie Witner Bixler, of Angelica, Pa., Allen Witmer, of Reading, Pa., Sarah Witmer and Edna Witmer Harting, both of near Mohnton, Pa., they to take same share of this share as their deceased parent would have taken if living. (k) One equal share thereof I give and bequeath unto John Koch, his heirs and assigns, of Bowmansville, Pa., son of Emma Frees, deceased. (l) One equal share thereof I give and bequeath in equal shares unto the heirs of my deceased wife's sister, Mary Frees Lesher, to wit: Pierce Lesher, of Adamstown, Pa., and Ella Lesher Kring, of RFD #2, Mohnton, Pa. (m) One equal share thereof I give and bequeath unto Ella Lebo Guigley, her heirs and assigns, of Adamstown, Pa,, daughter of my deceased wife's sister, Susan Frees Lebo. (n) One equal share thereof I give and bequeath unto my deceased wife's sister Rebecca Frees Messner, her heirs and assigns, and in the event that she should predecease me, then and in that event I give and vequeath said share in equal shares unto Julia Lessley, James Lessley and John Henry Lessley, all of Bowmansville, Pa. (o) One equal share thereof I give and bequeath in equal shares unto the heirs of Ella Frees Zerbe, deceased, to wit: Harvey Zerbe, Charles Zerbe, of Reading, Pa., Elmer Zerbe, John Zerbe, Luther Zerbe, all of Mohnton, Pa., Mary Zerve Zweitzer, of RFD 2 of Mohnton, Pa., Emma Zerbe Kipple, of Philadelphia, Pa., and unto the children of Theodor Zerbe to wit: Katie Zerbe Kring, Ella Zerbe Lorah, Dorothy Zerbe, Helen Zerbe, all of RFD 2, Mohnton, Pa., Anna Zerbe Good of RFD, East Earl, Pa., and John Zerbe, of Gouglersville, Pa., they to take the same share of this share as their parent would have taken. 4.. And lastly, I nominate, constitute and appoint Maurice A. Hosnauer, of Bowmansville Pa., to be the executor of this my last will and testament ....... (etc. etc. etc).... Arthur M. Yeager Olive Hamaker Additional Comments: Adam Lorah 11/1858-1952 was a son of Edward LORAH and Nancy Amanda (unk) of Brecknock, Lancaster Co PA. His will tells a lot about his siblings and their families. His wife was Amanda FREES, dau of John and Mary (Bitler) FREES also of Brecknock. She had died in 1928. They had no children.
