I Frederick Mentzer of West Cocalico township in the County of Lancaster and State of Pennsylvania, being old and weak in body, but of sound mind, memory and understanding but considering the uncertainty of this transitory life, do make and publish this my last will and testament in the manner and form as follows, to wit. First. It is my Will and I do order that after my decease all my just debts and funeral expenses be duly paid by my Executor herein named as soon as conveniently can be after my decease. Secondly. I do order my Executor to sell all my real and personal estate at public vendue to the highest and best bidder, for which my herein after named Executor shall give a deed or deeds which are to be valid in law as good as if I had gave them in my lifetime of my Real Estate. And after all expenses of settling my estate, and then It is my Will and do order, that the amount or Balance shall be divided to and amongst my two children, that is my son John and Susanna who is intermarried to Adam Sharp, share and share alike. Thirdly. And lastly of all I do appoint my son John Mentzer to be the Executor of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all other wills heretofore made and declaring this and no other to be my last Will and Testament. In witness where unto I have set my hand and seal this 26th day of July A.D. 1845. Frederick his X mark Mentzer {seal} Signed, sealed and delivered by the Testator as his last will and testament in the presence of us Wm H. Paul Johann Oberlin Lancaster County, ss. Son the fifth day of August, Anno Domini 1848, Before me the Subscriber personally appeared Wm. H. Paul and John Oberlin, the subscribing witnesses to the preceding Will and on their solemn Affirmations did depose and say, that they were present and saw and heard Frederick Mentzer the testator therein named sing, seal, publish, pronounce and declare the same to be his last will and testament, and that at the doing thereof he was of sound and well disposing mind, memory and understanding, to the best of their knowledge, observation and belief. Letters of Testamentry granted to John Mentzer, the Executor he being duly affirmed well and truly to administer the goods and chattels, rights and credits of the said Testator according to law, and also that he will diligently and faithfully regard and well and truly comply with the provisions of the Law relating to Collateral Inheritance.
