All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/lancaster/ _______________________________________________ Source: Lancaster Co., Pa Will Book Y, Pg 358 Written: April 15, 1865 Recorded: July 17, 1865 Lancaster County, Pennsylvania Will Book Y, pg 358 Samuel Mentzer, deceased In the name of God Amen, I Samuel Mentzer of West Cocalico township in the County of Lancaster and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, being weak in body, but of sound mind, memory and understanding, but considering the uncertainties of this Transitory life do make and publish this my last will and testament, in manner and form as follows. First. It is my will and I do order that after my decease that my body shall be buried in a decent manner on the grave yard at Stonemetzes and that all my just debts and funeral expenses be duly paid as soon as conveniently can be after my decease and have grave stones erected by my hereinafter named Executors. Item. Futher I do order that all my personal property shall be valued and appraised after my decease, and I do give and bequeath unto Samuel M. Mellinger son of Samuel Mellinger jr. my watch and my shot gun and all my Books and unto my son William Mentzer, and to my daughter Anna Mentzer, who formerly lived in Franklin County, Pennsylvania if they are yet living after my decease each the sum of five dollars. Further. I do give unto Eliza Mellinger wife of Samuel Mellinger, (one chest her choice) and all my clothing and Wearing apparel gratis which are not to be sold, and my new carpet and any other article of bedding or house furniture the said Eliza may choose to have, she may take it at the appraisement, if she may want them. And the remainder of my personal property shall be sold at public sale by my herein after named Executors, and my real property consisting of about five acres be the same more or less adjoining lands of William Royer widow, Louck and others with all the buildings thereon erected, situate in West Cocalico township in said County, shall be sold at public sale as soon as may be thought conveniently, and after all the debts are paid the balance then remaining I give and bequeath unto the said Samuel Mellinger jr and to his wife Eliza during there life time and after there decease to their children share and share alike that is in equal shares as many as there may be living then. Lastly I nominate, constitute and appoint my two friends Samuel Mellinger jr. and Daniel Steinmetz, both of West Cocalico township, in Lancaster County to be the Executors of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all other wills, legacies and bequests by me heretofore made, and declaring this and no other to be my last will and testament. In witness where of I have set my hand and seal the 15th day of April one thousand eight hundred and sixty five.
