I Sarah Mentzer, of Cocalico township in the county of Lancaster and state of Pennsylvania, widow? Being weak in body, but of sound mind memory and understanding and considering the uncertainty of this transitory life, do make and publish this my last will and testament, in manner and form following to wit. First it is my will and I do order and direct that all my just debts and funeral expenses be duly paid and satisfied as soon as conveniently can be after my decease. Item, I give and bequeath unto my daughter Eliza, the whole of my estate whatsoever; but if my said daughter Eliza dies under age or without issue, then I give and bequeath the whole of my estate unto my brothers, and sisters that is to say, to my brother Adam Sharp one eighth part, thereof; to my brother Samuel Sharp, one eighth part thereof; to the children of my brother Michael Sharp, one eighth part thereof; to my sister Susanna, one eight part thereof; to my sisters children Catharine one eight part thereof; to my sister Margaret one eighth part thereof; to my sister Lydia one eighth part thereof; and to my sister Christina one eighth part thereof, or their issue. And I do order and direct, that the money arriving out of my estate, shall be and remain in the hands of my executor here after named, and shall put it out on interest, well secured by [?? dark smudge] which interest shall be considered as a part of my estate, and by him to be paid as aforesaid. And lastly, I nominate and appoint my brother Samuel Sharp, to be the executor of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal, the seventh day of May, A.D. one thousand eight hundred and thirty five. Signed, sealed and declared by the said Sarah Mentzer, as her last will and testament in the presence of us; Johannes Sherb, Samuel Eberly Sarah her X mark Mentzer {Seal} Lancaster County, On the 22nd December 1835. Before me the subscriber personally appeared John Sherb and Samuel Eberly Esq. The witnesses to the preceding will, and on their affirmations according to law do say that they were present and did see Sarah Mentzer the testator therein named, make her mark thereto, and hear her publish, pronounce and declare this same, as and for her last will and testament and at the doing thereof, she was of sound and well disposing mind memory and understanding to the best of their knowledge, observation, and beliefs.
