All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/pafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Marilyn Szum http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00032.html#0007974 March 23, 2017, 2:33 pm Source: Lancaster County, Pennsylvania Written: April 27, 1785 Recorded: August 13, 1785 WILL OF JOHN RAMSAY Lancaster County Drumore Twp Vol E. im 141 In the Name of God Amen I JOHN RAMSEY deceased of Drumore Township County of Lancaster being weak in Body and fare advanced in old age and calling to Mind the mortality of my Body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to Die therefore I do make and ordain this to be my Last WIll and Testament and first I do recommend my Soul to God who gave it and my body to the earth to be buried in a Christian Like and desant maner at the discretion of my executors not doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty Power of God and as concsarning my worldly estate where with it has pleased God to bless me with in this Life I shall dispose of the same after the following maner and form. Item I give to my Cousin Robert Ramsey son of Robert Ramsey all my wering aperal Item I give to Jean Ramsey my feather Bed Rug and the Sum of Five Pounds in money Item I give to my friend William Antier that I now Live with all bond and books, debts or any other amounts that is between him and me I say to him and his Heirs forever Item I give to my neice Margaret Ramsey and her children all the Bonds and Book debts that her husband Robert Ramsey decd is indebted to me to be equally divided between her and her children to them and their heirs forever Memorandum what money or amounts is in William McAntiers hands I give to Elizabeth Scott the sum of fifteen pounds and I five to Samuel McAnteir the sum of fifteen pounds and I do give to Isabella McAnteir the youngest daughter of William McAnteir the sum of twenty pounds and the three sums I do allow to be paid at the death of William McAntier. Item I do give and bequeath all the remaining part of my estate to be equally divided into three shares I do give to Rachel Park one third part and I give to Ester Morison one third Part. I do give to Rebecah Donaghy one third Part and I allow her only the Interest of it for five years- --then her part to be paid her in full and I do hereby appoint my true and trusty friend William McAnteir and Samuel Morison to be the whole and sole Executors of this my Last Will and testament and I do hereby disallow revoak and disannul all former wills by me made heretofore ratifying and confirming this and none other to be my Last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hands and seals this 27 day of April in the Year of Our Lord One thousand Seven Hundred and eighty five . JOHN RAMSEY (seal) Signed sealed and delivered in presence of Andrew McAntier and John Dolan (his mark) Lancaster County On the thirteenth day of August and Domini 1785 Before me the subscriber personally appeared - John Dolare one of the subscribing witnesses to the within will and on his Corporal Oath did depose and say that he was present and saw and heard John Ramsey the Testator therein Named Sign Seal Publish Pronounce and declare the within instrument of writing as and for his Last Will and Testament and that at the time of doing thereof he was of sound and well disposing mind memory and understanding to the Best of his knowledge observation and Belief and also that he saw Andrew McAteir the other subscribing witness sign his name at same time... Be it remembered that on the thirteenth day of August Anno Domini 1785 the Last Will and Testament of John Ramsey Late of Drumore Township deceased was proved in due form and Letters Testamentary thereon were granted to WIlliam McAntier and Samuel Morison the Executors therein named they having first been duly Qualified Well and truly to administer the estate of the said Deceased and especially to exhibit a true and perfect inventory thereof into the Registers Office at Lancaster within one month from this date and to Render a Just and a true account of their Administration on the said Estate within one year or when thereunto lawfully required Given under the seal oif said office.
