All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/pafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Marilyn Szum http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00032.html#0007974 March 23, 2017, 2:07 pm Source: Register Of Wills Lancaster County Pa Written: January 15, 1781 Recorded: November 22, 1786 IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, I James Ramsey late of Drumore Twp County of Lancaster and State of Pennsylvania farmer being in health of Body and perfect Mind and Memory thanks be given unto God Calling to mind the Mortality of my Body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this to be my Last Will and Testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and Recommend my Soul into the Hands of Almighty God that gave it and my Body I recommend to the Earth to be buryed, in decent Christian Burial at the Discretion of my Executors nothing Doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the Mighty power of God and as touching such worldly Estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me in this life I give and Demise and Dispose of the same in the following manner and form: First I give and beqeuath unto my beloved son William's four sons James, Joseph, Ephraim and John the sum of Six hundred pounds now in the hands of Major John Ramsay of Chester County and State aforesaid to be divided among them as their Mother with the Concurrence of my Executor hereafter Mentioned shall direct. Likewise I give and bequeath unto my beloved Daughter Rebecca's two daughters Jane and Sina Montgomery that Money due to me by Stephen Herd, Walter Buchannan and Robert Clark as may appear upon Bonds to be Equally divided between them Likewise I give and Bequeath unto my Granddaughter Margaret Steward now wife to JAMES RAMSAY all that Money arising from the Snodgrass Bonds excepting fifty pounds. Likewise I give and bequeath unto my granddaughter Jane Steward One hundred Pounds with Interest due by John Neil Together with two hundreds due by and fifty Pounds reserved from Snodgrasses Bond as a;lso my Chest and Bedding of Cloathes togethre with my rideing horse and my sheep to be divided unto my beloved son William Montgomery and my grandson James Ramsay Margaret's Husband all my wearing apparel to be equally divided between them share and share alike. Likewise I allow my Executors to discharge William Montgomery's Accounts against me out of the Money left in the Hands of MAJOR JOHN RAMSAY of Chester County. Likewise I Constitute Make and ordain James Starrett of Lancaster County and Major John Ramsey of Chester County to be my whole and Sole Executors of this my Last WIll and Testament and I do hereby utterly Disallow, revoke and disanull all and every other Testaments Wills Legacies Bequests and Executors by me in any wise before Named Willed and bequeathed Ratifying and Confirming this and no other to be my Last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I do hdereunto set my hand and Seal this fifteenth day of January in the year of Our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty One. JAMES RAMSEY (Seal) Signed, Sealed, Published, Pronounced, and Declared by the sd JAMES RAMSAY as his Last Will and Testament in the presence of us who in his presence and int he presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our Names Robert Starrett, James Starrett Junior Lancaster County, to wit, On the twenty second day of November Anno Domini 1786 Before me the subscriber Personally appeared James Starret and Robert Starrett Junior and on their Solemn Oath by Uplifted hand did Depose and say that they were present and saw and heard James Ramsay the Testator within named Sign, Seal, Publish, Pronounce, and Declare the within writing as and for his Last Will and testament and that at the doing thereof he was of sound and well disposing Mind Memory and Understanding to the best of their Knowledge Observation and Belief James Jacks Register Be it remembered That on the Twenty Second Day of November Anno Domini 1786 The Last Will and Testament of James Ramsay late of Drumore Twp Yeoman Deceased was proved in due form of Law and Letters Testamentary thereon were granted unto James Starret one of the Executors in the said WIll Named (John Ramsey the other Executor therein named having by his Certain Deed of Renunciation dated the thirteenth Day of November Anno Domini 1786 Renounced and relinquished all his right and title of Executorship under the said will) He the said James Starret having been Duly Qualified well and truly to Administer the Estate of the said Deceased and Especially to Exhibit a true and perfect Inventory thereof into the Register's Office in Lancaster within one Month from this Date and to render a Just and true Account of his Administration on said Estate within one year or when thereto lawfully required Given Under the seal of Said Office James James Regst.
