I John Schweigart of Earl Township in the County of Lancaster being sick of Body but of sound memory and understanding and calling to mind the uncertainty of my life therefore I do hereby make my Last Will and Testament in manner following that is to say, First it is my will that my movable goods shall be sold and the money thereof applied towards paying my debts And further it is my will that my beloved wife Susanna shall and may carry on the housekeeping with my children as usual for the Term of four years and at the expiration of the said years they may (if my executors think it proper) continue the housekeeping in manner aforesaid until one of my children becomes able to take possession of my Place or if my Executors shall find it good they shall divide my Plantation in two parts and further it is my will that my eldest son Abraham shall have five pounds for his birth right and no more and further it is my will that my wife Susanna shall have Interest arising from the sum of money appraised for my Plantation and fifteen Bushels of wheat and Ten bushels of Rye and those children who have possession of the place shall yearly deliver the said articles to my wife and fifteen pounds of hackled (?) hemp or flax and keep a cow in fodder for her of give her the fodder for keeping a cow and sixty Pounds of Pork and forty Pounds of Beef and five pounds of wool a barrel of good cider and her widowhood in the House and if she cannot agree with them then they must erect her a House separate and they must cut her the firewood and deliver to her house as much as necessary and all these bequest shall be paid and raised out of my Plantation and further it is my will that all my children shall have equal shares one like the other and further it is my will that my appointed executors shall have a right to make and give good and sufficient Deeds as good as if I had made and given them myself Further I nominate and appoint my beloved Friends George Schweigart and John Bitzer Executors and Guardians of this my last will and Testament. In Witness whereof I have hereto set my hand and seal the 29thday of April 1778. Signed sealed and declared by the Testator as his last will and Testament in the presence of us as witnesses. John Nears John Sieler John his X mark Schwiegart (seal) Lancaster County SS On the twelfth day of January 1779 Before me the subscriber personally appeared John Neiss and John Seiler the two subscribing Witnesses to the within will and on their solemn affirmations according to Law and declare and say that they were present and saw and heard John Sweigart the Testator within named sign and publish pronounce and declare the within writing as and for his last will and Testament and that at the doing thereof he was of sound mind memory and understanding to the best of their Knowledge observation and Belief. Be it remembered that on the twelfth day of April Anno Domini 1779 that the Last Will and Testament of John Sweigart was approved in due form of Law and Letters Testamentary thereon were granted to George Sweigart and John Bitzer the executors therein named who being first duly qualified well and truly to administer the Estate of the deced and to exhibit a true and perfect Inventory thereof into the Registers Office at Lancaster on or before the twelfth day of May next and to render a true and just account of the administration on the said Estate when thereto lawfully required.
