We encourage links to the state and county table of contents. _____________________________ (Note typed as it appered, including many spelling errors) Lancaster County Archives Will book B, Volume 1, page 129 JAMES STEEL Deceased IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN this ye thirteenth Day of Aprile in yeYear of our Lord 1756 James Steel of ye Township of Little Britain in ye County of Lancaster being very sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God therefore caling unto Mind ye Mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all Men once to dye do make and Ordain this my last will and testement that is to say principally and first of all I Give and Recommend my soul into ye hands of God that gave it and for my Body I recommend It to ye Earth to be Buried in a Christian Like and decent manner at ye discreation of my Executors nothing Doubting but at ye general Resurrection I shall recieve ye same again by ye mighty power of God And as touching such worldly Estate wherewith It hath pleased God to blifs me in this life I give Devise and dispose of ye same In ye following Manner and form IMPRIMIS I Leave ye place I now live on to ye Care and disposal of my Sons Thomas Steel and John Steel And they are to pay and discharge all Debts that I now owe And I order that there be know Vandue made or ye Land or House Hold fourniture till in November next And I give and Bequeth unto my son Thos. Steel one bigg pott to him and his Afsigns And I leave my Son William Steel ye sum of ten pounds to be paid to his out of ye first gail of ye Place after all Debts and Funaral Charges are discharged to him and his Heirs ans Afsigns for ever Item I give and bequath unto my dearly beloved Wife Elizabeth Steel and my Daughter Elizabeth Steel All ye residueof ye Money arifeing from ye sale of ye said land and furniture to be divided equeally between them to them there Heirs and Afsigns AND I desire my dearly beloved Wife to take and keep hir Daughter Mary Nixfon until she comes of age and at ye Exfpration of her timee I order her to give hir one cow and new cloase such as are comon for bound for bound Servants to get Also I desire my beloved wife takes care of my Daughter Elezebeth Steel . And I order my sons Thomas Steel and John Steel to pay ye money amounting from ye place Into ye Hands of my wife so such as amounts to hir part And my Daughter Elezebeths part to be put into Intrest till she coms of Age or marrys I. Likewise constitute make and ordain my two Sons Thomas Steel and John Steel my sole Executors of this my last will and Testament IN WITNEFS whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Sale ye Day and year above written. Steel the Witnefses to the foregoing wIll and on their Corporal Oaths did depose and say that they were present and saw and heard James Steel the Testator above named Sign Seal publish pronounce & Declare the foregoingWriting as and for his last Will and testement and that at the doing thereof he of sound and disposing mind memory & Understanding to the best of their Knowledge & Belief Edwd Shippen D. Rr. BE IT REMEBERED that on the 12th day of June 1756 The last will and testament of James Steel desceased was provedin due form of law and Probate and Letters Testamentary were granted to Thomas Steel and John Steel the Executors in the said testament named them being first duley Qualified well and truley to Administer the said Decedents Estate and to bring an Inventory thereof into the resisters Office at Lancaster on or before the twelfth Day of July next AND also to render a true and just Account of their said Administration when thereto lawfully required.
