Announcement of the funeral will be made later." OBITUARY: [New Castle News, February 7, 1922] "Funeral services for the late John Marshall of Wampum will be held from the Wampum Presbyterian church Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock. Rev. H. E. Woods will be in charge and interment will be made in Oak Park cemetery, this city. Mr. Marshall was the son of the late David and Margaret Davidson Marshall, pioneer settlers of Wayne township and was 81 years of age. He was a member of the Slippery Rock Presbyterian churchan and served as elder until fifteen years ago when he came to Wampum where he became united with the Wampum Presbyterian church. He had a combined eldership in the two churches of thirty seven years. Besides his wife he is survived by one duaghter, Mrs. Margaret Hazen of Frisco, Pa., and one son, E. [D.] M. Marshall of Wampum." ____________________________________________________ OBITUARY: [New Castle News - December 31, 1928] " Mrs. Margaret J. Marshall, aged 85 years, widow of John Marshall, passed away Saturday evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. P. Hazen of Frisco, near Ellwood City, following a brief illness of ten days of the infirmities of age. Mrs. Marshall was born and raised on the farm on what is now the Fourth ward of Ellwood City. Her parents were Abraham and Elizabeth Smith Cole, pioneer residents of that community. Mr. and Mrs. Cole were united in marriage, February 21, 1828 and were the parents of seven children, Mrs. Marshall being the last of the family. When a young woman, Mrs. Marshall united with the Slippery Rock Presbyterian church. Of later years she had been a faithful member of the Wampum Presbyterian church where she took a deep interest in all of the church activities and missionary work. She was one of the best known and highly esteemed women of the community where she had lived for many years. On September 16, 1862, she was married to John Marshall who preceded her in death in February, 1922. To this union four children were born, two of whom are living, Mrs. Margaret Hazen of Ellwood and David M. Marshall of the Marshall Undertaking company at Wampum. She also leaves one niece, Mrs. Sue McCowan of Carnegie and a nephew, W. H. Cole of Ellwood City, six grand children and fourteen great grand children. The body has been removed to the home of her son, David M. Marshall at Wampum, where it will remain until Tuesday afternoon. Funeral services will be conducted from the Wampum Presbyterian church, Tuesday, January 1 at 2 p.m. Burial will be made in Oak Park Cemetery."
