Miss Kathryn Keiser, of Chanceford, is the guest of her sister, Mrs. C. B. 
Cross, at Christ chapel manse, on Maple street, near Seventh, Independent 
District.

Miss Sarah Lineaweaver, of East Cumberland street, left for Philadelphia 
yesterday morning.

Mrs. William Kaler, of Jonestown, is the guest of her daughter, Mrs. Michael 
Shaeffer, Church street.

Mrs. Howard C. Shirk, of East Cumberland street, went to Reading yesterday.

Misses Lottie and Kate Euston, of Mt. Lebanon, went to Philadelphia yesterday.

Miss L. A. Diehl went to Philadelphia yesterday morning.

Miss Pennington left for Philadelphia yesterday morning to attend the millinery 
openings.


NEW PLUMBING FIRM.

George W. Schreiber and William G. Reinhard, both first-class mechanics, have 
formed a co-partnership and will engage in the plumbing business, occupying 
about April 1 the building 712 Willow street, now occupied by O. C. Boyd.


IN BUSINESS IN PHILADELPHIA.

John A. Heilman, for several years proprietor of the Union house, at Ninth and 
Chestnut streets, this afternoon went to Philadelphia, where he will engage in 
the meat business at 2319 North Tenth street.  The family will leave today.


IN ALDERMANIC COURTS.

John Doyle and John Donhower, charged with having broken into a P. and R. 
railroad passenger coach in this city, were given a hearing before Alderman 
Snyder yesterday afternoon.  They were discharged for want of evidence.

In the case of Sallie and John Long, charged by Lewis Adams with keeping a 
disorderly house, the prosecutor yesterday withdrew the charge before Alderman 
Snyder and the defendants paid the costs.

Constable George A. Hunter recently arrested Dr. George F. Patterson, who 
formerly was engaged in the dentistry business in this city, in the residence 
where the late Dr. William M. Beardslee practiced, charged by Mrs. Ellen C. 
Beardslee with perjury.  He furnished $500 bail before Alderman Miller for a 
hearing Monday, April 16.  The prosecutrix alleges the defendant recently swore 
falsely before Prothonotary J. A. Heilman in a transaction in which Mrs. 
Beardslee was plaintiff.  J. Marshall Funck, esq., represents the Commonwealth, 
and Warren G. Light, esq., the defendant.
