STATION HOUSE ITEMS

"Redy" O'Brian was arrested on Saturday by Policeman Shultz, for drunkenness, 
and spent the night in the station house.

A colored man from Virginia was arrested by Chief of Police Stine for the same 
offence.

The former paid a fine of $8 and the latter was sent to the jail for 15 days, 
yesterday morning.


IN ALDERMANIC COURTS.

The assault and batter case of John Pfeiffer vs Henry Bentz was settled before 
Alderman R. L. Miller, the defendant paying the costs.

The hearing in the case of Wm. Heverling vs. Mrs. Amos Biever, charged with 
assault and batter, was continued on Saturday before Alderman Faust until next 
Saturday owing to death in the Biever family.


MARRIAGE LICENSES GRANTED.

These people have been granted licenses to marry:

Cyrus Bergert and Miss Ida Wolf, both of Millbach Centre.
John K. Fegan and Miss Lizzie Shepler, both of Annville.
Edward Miller and Miss Miranda Boltz, both of Bethel township.
Harvey H. Brill and Miss Tansie Weise, both of Newmanstown.


RUN OVER BY HIS WAGON.

Thomas Heffelfinger, a farmer, residing near Fredericksburg, crossed the 
mountain for coal, and when within a few square miles of his destination, he 
wanted to get off at the side of the wagon and made a misstep.  He fell and the 
wagon went over his left leg and crushed it.  Dr. Strohm is attending him.


BOARD OF HEALTH PLACARDS.

Sanitary Policeman Snyder has put up scarlet fever placards on the homes of J. 
H. Light, 428 North Tenth street.

A diphtheria placard has been put up at the home of Frank Bittner, 24 South 
Ninth street.


INJURED BY A FALL.

Mrs. Sarah Reifsnyder, residing at 1501 Cumberland street, while walking over 
her rear porch slipped and fell, cutting a deep hole in her right arm injuring 
herself internally.  The fall was caused by the porch being wet and slippery.  
She is confined to her bed.


HOFFER'S PROPERTY LEVIED UPON.

The directors of the First National bank, to whom John H. Hoffer, the late 
cashier, confessed judgment in the sum of $30,000 on Monday morning, had an 
execution issued against him for this amount and it is now in the hands of the 
sheriff.  A levy will be made on all the personal property and real estate of 
the defendant that can be found.


FRAUD CHARGED.

O. Detweiler, clothier, South Eighth street, has been charged with getting money 
under false pretense by securing the signatures of Miss Lydia Shott and G. A. 
Fink for $400.  He claims that they signed the note in the presence of 
witnesses, but Miss Shott claims that she thought she was signing a receipt for 
rent.
