All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/lebanon/ _______________________________________________ PHILIP HARTMAN Philip Hartman, one of the oldest residents of this place, died very suddenly on Monday afternoon from general debility due to old age from which he had been suffering for several months. Deceased took to his bed about three weeks ago and his decline was very rapid until death claimed him. Prior to his illness Mr. Hartman was remarkably well preserved and during the summer months quite frequently walked to and from Prescott a distance of 6 miles to visit friends at his former home. At the time of his death deceased was aged 86 years, 4 months and 29 days. Surviving him is his aged wife, one daughter Mrs. Emma Beckley with whom he resided, and two sons, Abe of Schafferstown; Charles of Akron, Lancaster Co. The funeral took place this Friday morning from the home of his daughter, W. Main Street. A short service was conducted at the house by Rev. J. Lewis Fluck, and the remains were conveyed overland to Reinhold's Station, Lancaster Co. where services were conducted in the Swamp Reformed church by Rev. Sweitzer; interment was made in cemetery adjoining church. The family and friends of departed left with the early morning train for the place of obsequies. Myerstown Enterprise, March 9, 1906
