Jacob Hockley Passed Away This Morning

Died At His Twelfth Street Home after Long Illness

HIGHLY ESTEEMED

Rolling Mill Man And Served Two Terms As Councilman

     Jacob Hockley, one of Lebanon's more highly esteemed citizens, passed 
away at 7:45 o'clock this morning at his home, at 49 North Twelfth Street. He 
was stricken with paralysis for two and a half years ago, and since then has 
been an invalid. While he suffered a number of sinking spells during which his 
life was despaired of during that period. He was revived each time, until a 
similar relapse occurred in the past few days.
     Mr. Hockley was aged 76 years, he was born and raised at Boiling 
Springs, Cumberland county, but came to Lebanon about thirty years ago to take 
charge of Capp's Rolling Mill. He was variously employed since that mill 
became idle some years.
     He was a member of the Methodist Church, and was also identified with 
the membership of the Knights of Malta. He was held in high regard by 
neighbors and friends, being a man of solid judgement and exemplary habits. He 
served as a member of Common Council some years ago under the old time form of 
bicameral form of councilmanic government of cities of the third class. He 
served two terms of two years each. While his death was not unexpected, it 
came nevertheless as a severe shock to the family and his neighbors and other 
citizens at large and the family has the sincere sympathy of many friends.
     Three children -- William, Owen, and Grace, reside at home, and John 
I, George, Frank, Alfred and Grant are five sons, all married, who reside in 
the city.

Hockley -- In Lebanon on the 10th. inst., Jacob Hockley, aged 76 years. 
Funeral on Tuesday afternoon, at 2:00 o'clock, from the house. Services at the 
residence, 49 North Twelfth St. Interment at Mt. Lebanon. Relatives and 
friends are invited to attend without further notice.
