Eleanor (Risser) Bachman, 80, of Plantsville, Conn., died peacefully on Friday, November 30, 2007. The daughter of the late Elizabeth (Miller) and Joseph Risser, Eleanor was raised in Avon, and graduated from Lebanon High School in 1945. She worked at the Lebanon Steel Foundry where she met her husband, Richard F. Bachman. She lived her adult life in Jonestown, and South Windsor and Plantsville, Conn. In spite of significant physical limitations, Eleanor lived independently and loved making blankets for new babies and creating her beautiful ceramics. She is survived by three daughters, Deborah Bachman Paul and husband Michael of Trabuco Canyon, Calif., Brenda Bachman of West Hartford, Conn., and Cynthia Bachman Cayer and husband David of Plantsville, Conn. She also leaves two loving grandsons, William Richard Cayer and Christopher David Cayer, both of Plantsville, Conn.; and a granddaughter, Jenna Paul Mai and her husband Steve and their children Lauren and Madelyn Mai of Culver City, Calif. Eleanor leaves her sisters and brothers- in-law, Myrtle (Risser) and Richard Messinger, Ruth (Risser) and Frank Keath all of Lebanon. She also leaves her brothers-in-law, Lester Bachman of Stuart, Fla., Franklin "Bickel" Bachman of Jonestown, and sister-inlaw Anna Mae (Bachman) Luciotti of Annville. In addition, Eleanor leaves many nieces and nephews who were very special to her. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard F. Bachman, and by her siblings Elizabeth (Risser) Anspach, Lloyd Risser, Melvin Risser, Arlene (Risser) Sheaf, and Elwood Risser. Celebrations of Eleanor's life will take place at Plantsville Congregational Church, 109 East Main Street, Plantsville, on Thursday, December 27, at 6 p.m. and at St. John's United Church of Christ, 120 West Market Street, Jonestown, on Saturday, December 29, at 10 a.m. Internment immediately following. Eleanor's family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of the Summit at Plantsville for their loving devotion and care.
