Bender, 64, of Yorktowne Road, Hershey, and formerly of Annville, graduated from his earthly life to his eternal home in heaven on Wednesday, October 17, 2007, at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center. Born April 7, 1943, in Harrisburg, he was the son of the late Chester J. and Violet (Hoy) Bender. He retired from Bethlehem Steel and farming; was a 1961 graduate of William Penn High School; a graduate of the Thompson Institute and attended Ohio State University. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Palmyra, where he sang in the choir and was treasurer of the South Wing Investment Club. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed playing racquetball and loved his cats. Surviving are his wife of 38 years Kyleen Fisher Bender; a sister Jean McClure of Harrisburg; 12 nieces; and seven nephews. Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, October 20, 2007, at his church, 520 East Birch Street, Palmyra. Burial will be in Churchville Cemetery, Oberlin, at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, specified for Mission and Music Programs, 520 East Birch Street, Palmyra, PA 17078.
