Betz, 75, of Lebanon and formerly of Palmyra, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, December 29, 2007, at the Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon, leaving his wife of 52 years Fay J. (Seltzer) Betz; son Barry, husband of Tara Ditt Betz; and their son Bryce of Palmyra; daughters Bonita "Bonnie," wife of Jeff Meier of Dallas, Texas, and Brenda Holston and children Kathryn and Joseph of New Cumberland waiting to meet him. Born April 25, 1932, in Lebanon, Glenn came from a family to 13 children, including four sets of twins. He was a twin to Gene of Seattle, Washington; also brothers Michael of Hummelstown, Wayne of Camp Hill, Ernest of Benton, and Keith of Palmyra; sisters Kay Reiner of Palmyra, June George of Mount Wilson, and Phyllis Eckert of Elizabethtown; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins throughout the United States Entering into heaven before him were his parents Michael and Celia (Werner) Betz, brothers Donald and Carl, and sisters Bernice Gepfer and Doris Brooks. He was a 1951 graduate of Palmyra High School, served four years in the U.S. Air Force, was a supervisor of the shipping department for the former J. Landis Shoe Company for six years, and retired from the Hershey Chocolate Company after 33 years, 29 years as supervisor of the chaser and plow department, second shift. He had also worked part time from the age of 12 for Gravel Hill Cemetery and later with his wife as caretaker for 15 years. Glenn was a member of the American Legion and a lifetime member of Gravel Hill United Methodist Church, Palmyra, and the Sunday school, serving for many years as an assistant and later secretary of the Sunday school. He was also an usher and worked with the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts of the church. He was a great coin collector, giving most of his coins to his family, and also enjoyed fishing, camping, nature, and his church family. Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Thursday, January 3, 2008, at Gravel Hill United Methodist Church, 131 Gravel Hill Road, Palmyra, preceded by a viewing from 10 ñ 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra. In lieu of flowers, a monetary contribution may be made to the Gravel Hill United Methodist Church, 131 Gravel Hill Road, Palmyra, PA 17078, designated to the "Land Purchase Fund" in memory of Glenn.
