Carpenter, 77, of Lebanon died Sunday, September 30, 2007, in the Lebanon VA Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Kathleen D. Schauer Carpenter who died in 2004. Born in Lebanon on February 4, 1930, he was the son of the late Frank and Agnes Freshley Carpenter. He was a salesman for NAPA Auto Parts and was the former longtime owner and proprietor of Carpenter's Amaco, Cleona. Jack was a 1949 graduate of Lebanon High School; a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War; a member of Moonshine United Zion Church, the Annville American Legion; and was an avid motorcycle rider. Surviving are a son David J., husband of Kathy Carpenter of Manhattan, Kansas; two daughters, Deborah Smith and Denise, wife of Dale Snyder, both of Annville; a brother Frederick F. Carpenter of Lebanon; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a dear friend Arlene Nelson of Cleona. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:30 a.m. from the Kreamer Funeral Home, 618 E. Main St., Annville. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with military honors. Viewing will be held on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. and also on Friday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to his church, 701 Moonshine Road, Jonestown, PA 17038; or the VA Hospice, 1700 S. Lincoln Ave., Lebanon, PA 17042.
