Deetz will be held Saturday, December 15, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 11560 Southeast Market St., Portland, Ore. Private inurnment will be at Willamette National Cemetery where she will be placed with her husband Raymond. Rita was born June 5, 1949, in Lebanon, Oregon, to Stanley and Margaret (Hess) Johnson. She died December 5, 2007, at her home in Gresham. She graduated from Lebanon High School, attended Pacific Lutheran University for two years, two years at Portland State University receiving her degree in education. She received her master's in education from Portland State. She lived in Lebanon until 1969 moving to Portland; 2002 moved to Gresham. Rita married Raymond (Ray) Deetz September 20, 1969, in Lebanon, Oregon; her maiden name was Johnson. She taught school at Belmont Elementary; she taught second grade at Bull Run Grade School and Firwood Grade School in Sandy, Oregon. Rita was a member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church and her activities included choir, music teacher, Vacation Bible School, activities committee and the "In Betweeners." She was a Red Hat Society. Her special interests include travel, computers, Sudoku, pinnacle cards and bunko. Survivors include parents Stanley and Margaret Johnson of Lebanon; son Jeffrey Deetz and his wife Misty of Salem; daughter Amy Deetz of Gresham; brother Irvin Johnson of Vancouver, Wash., brother Lloyd Johnson of Charbonneau, Oregon, brother Dean Johnson of Cornelius, Oregon, brother Lyle Johnson of Gresham; four nephews; and four nieces. Contributions may be made to the Ovarian Cancer Research. Arrangements entrusted to Bateman Carroll Funeral Home.
