Geib, L.W. "Boop" L.W. "Boop" Geib LEBANON L.W. "Boop" Geib, 87, of 2030 Rosewood Drive, Cornwall Manor, formerly of Timber Road, Mt. Gretna, died Friday, September 21, 2007, in Cornwall Manor Health Center. He was the husband of Mary Jane Werth Geib, to whom he had been married for 66 years. Born in Lebanon on Nov. 21, 1919, he was the son of the late Harvey and Bertha Geib. He was a graduate of Lebanon High School and attended Davis and Elkins College before earning a commission as a pilot in the Army Air Corps during World War II. An employee of the U.S. Postal Service, he ran the Cleona Post Office for several years before his retirement in the mid-1970s and had served before that as superintendent of mails for the Lebanon Post Office. Active in Boy Scouting as a young man, he was among the youngest in Lebanon County to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. His love of the outdoors continued throughout his life and he enjoyed sharing it with his family. He was an avid hiker, camper, fisherman, and conductor of "nature walks." His two greatgranddaughters, now 7 and 5, were the joy of his later years, and he was anticipating the birth of his third great-granddaughter in November. Surviving in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Susan, wife of Daniel L. Moyer of Mt. Gretna; a granddaughter, Emily, wife of Dr. Daniel A. Walting II, of West Nanticoke; greatgranddaughters, Madeleine and Margaret Walting; sisters, Helen Pattishall of Cornwall Manor and Betty Kreider of Palmyra; inlaws, Helen Pleiss and Cyril and Mary Werth, all of Lebanon; several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by a sister, Florence Miller. Memorial service Thursday at 11:15 a.m. at the Cornwall Manor Zerr Chapel. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to a charity of your choice. Thompson Funeral Home Inc., 126 S. Ninth Street, Lebanon, is in charge of arrangements.
