Phillip J. Hepner BETHEL Phillip J. Hepner, 57, of Bethel died Sunday, October 7, 2007, at his residence. He was the husband of Jean M. Miller Hepner to whom he was married 26 years on August 22. Born in East Earl, Pa., on August 18, 1950, he was the son of the late Norman and Martha McElroy Hepner. He was a 1968 graduate of Garden Spot High School, Lancaster, and a 1972 graduate of West Chester University where he received a bachelor degree in English. He had been an English teacher in the Tulpehocken Area School District for 35 years. He was a member of St. John's Church, Mt. Aetna, and enjoyed golfing and hunting. In addition to his wife he is survived by three sisters, Mary Lammey of Kennett Square, Pa., Ida Scheloske of New Holland, Pa., and Ruth, wife of David Esh of Kinzers, Pa.; brother, Paul, husband of Nancy Hepner of Thornton, Colorado; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister Elizabeth Barrett and brother Norman Hepner Jr. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 12, 2007, at 11 a.m. from Grose Funeral Home, 358 W. Washington Ave., Myerstown. Viewing Thursday from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. and Friday at 10 a.m. Interment at St. John's Church Cemetery, Mt. Aetna. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 1274, Lebanon, PA 17042.
