Miller shabodeho@aol.com November 8, 2007, 10:13 am Lebanon Daily News on 11/7/2007 Karcewski, Alfred S. Alfred S. Karcewski BRIDGEPORT Alfred S. Karcewski, age 85, of Chalfont died Monday, October 29, 2007, at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. He was the husband of the late Ruth (Kulp) Karcewski who died April 8, 1990. Born in Bridgeport, Pa., he was the son of the late John and Karolina (Punczek) Karcewski. He had lived many years in Hatfield before moving to Chalfont in 1974. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Hilltown. Mr. Karcewski served with the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and Korea, working on aircraft as an armorer. He had worked at the former Turbo Machine Company in Lansdale, and the former Quaker City Gear in Huntingdon Valley, where he had been a certified purchasing manager. He was a member and past president of the Industrial Management Club and the North Penn Model A Ford Club. He was also a member of the North Penn BPOE and the VFW in Chalfont. He very much enjoyed his hobby of woodworking and had maintained his own woodworking shop for many years. Mr. Karcewski is survived by a son, Paul Karcewski of Chalfont; two daughters, Laura, wife of the late Earl Kratz of Hatfield, and Ann, wife of David Andrew Opilo of Palmyra, Pa.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, and one sister. Relatives and friends are invited to his memorial service on Saturday, November 10, 2007, 2 p.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 1530 Augsburg Drive, Hilltown, Pa. The family will receive friends at church from 1 p.m. Interment at Hatfield Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family. For those desiring, donations made to the Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation, PO Box 37, Mountain Lakes, NJ 07046 are preferred by the family.
