"Ratz" Light died in the Lebanon VA Hospice Unit after a 2 1/2 week hospitalization. He died peacefully with his daughter at his bedside. He was 83 years old, and was born n Lebanon to Emma and Ralph Light on February 2, 1924. He graduated from Lebanon High School in 1942, where he played football and basketball. Upon graduating he joined the U.S. Marine Air Force and served as a gunner in the South Pacific during World War II. Ralph lived most of his life in Lebanon, except for 10 years when he and his late wife lived in New Mexico during the 1980s. He retired from the Bethlehem Steel Co. after 32 years. Most recently he had lived at Elmcroft Assisted Living Community. He was a long time member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church. Mr. Light was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Leob Light, who died in 1986; and two sisters, Ruth Will Seiders and Margaret Painter. He is survived by his daughter Deborah of Lancaster; two nephews, Jack Will of Mt. Gretna and Ron will of Lebanon; and his long time companion Catherine (Cass) Chabitnoy of Lebanon. Graveside services will be held Friday, January 4, 2008, at 11:30 from Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with full military honors. Thompson Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
