Miller shabodeho@aol.com December 28, 2007, 9:47 am Lebanon Daily News on 12/11/2007 Lytle, John Bruce John Bruce Lytle LEBANON John Bruce Lytle, 85, passed away quietly on December 7th in the wonderful Cedar Haven Nursing Home in Lebanon. He died as he had lived - serenely, with dignity and humility. He was predeceased by three brothers, Teddy, George and Al; and three sisters, Eunice Frank, Madalene Heinbach, and Jeannette Legay. John was born on June 23, 1922, in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, to Maude (Fox) and Frank Lytle. After graduating from the Milton Hershey Industrial School in 1942, he enlisted into the U.S. Army and was a decorated World War II veteran stationed in France. After his discharge, he settled in California, where he worked for the sheriff's department in Marin County as an animal control officer. He was recognized for saving a baby sea lion from the San Francisco Bay and was well known for his love of all animals. He resided in California with his wife and family for many years before returning to Pennsylvania. He is survived by sister, Joanne McConnell, Australia; his four devoted and loving children, sons John Jr., husband of Laura of Klamath Falls, Oregon, Paul, husband of Patty, Annville, George, husband of Connie, Manheim; and daughter Barbara Grabusky of Palmyra; and his loving wife of 60 years, Geraldine (Eckert) of Palmyra. He is also survived by seven adoring grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews; and great- grandchildren. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. A memorial service to celebrate John's life will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, December 17th, at the Cedar Haven Nursing Home, 590 South Fifth Avenue, Lebanon, PA 17042. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in John's memory be made to Cedar Haven Nursing Home, the wonderful home that took loving and excellent care of him in his later years.
