Pliska, Jaroslav "Jerry" Jaroslav Pliska FREDERICKSBURG Jaroslav "Jerry" Pliska, 77, of Fredericksburg passed away on Monday, October 1, 2007, at his home. He was the husband of Agnes Davison Pliska. Born in Bohumin, Czechoslovakia, on April 30, 1930, he was the son of the late Josef and Anna Svoboda Pliska. He retired in 1972 from the U.S. Army and following retirement he worked for the Lebanon Tool Co. for 19 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. In addition to his wife he is survived by a son Wayne S. Smith of Fredericksburg; and daughters Sandra B., wife of Ronald Kreiser of Jonestown, Cheryl L., wife of Earl Dechert of Fordland, Mo., Vivian C., wife of Paul Schmitz of Springfield, Mo., Wendy E., wife of Joseph Stucky of Lebanon, and Sherry L., wife of William Loose of Fredericksburg; three brothers, Jan, Jin and Milan Pliska, all of the Czech Republic; 14 grandchildren; and 27 great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers Josef and Jindrich Pliska. Funeral services will be at the Strauss-Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home, Jonestown, for the immediate family only, with interment to be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1274, Lebanon, PA 17042.
