Womer, 82, Lebanon Valley Home of United Church of Christ, died after a brief illness at Harrisburg Hospital on Wednesday, October 28, 2007. Gordon was born on August 31, 1925, to Harry Womer and Mabel Ebersole Womer Shearer in Palmyra, Pennsylvania. He attended Annville High School where he lettered in basketball. He graduated early in order to join the United States Marine Corps on February 14, 1943. He fought in the Battle of Okinawa and at age 18 was the youngest Marine Corps sergeant in the South Pacific. Gordon married Margaret L. Reardon of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, in 1947. He entered the plumbing trade and lived in Lemoyne, Pennsylvania. He later moved to St. Petersburg, Florida, where he opened Gordon's Plumbing. He moved back to Annville in 2000 to enjoy his retirement years in his hometown. Gordon was widowed in 2001 and married Helen Snoke Stoner Womer in 2004. He is survived by his wife; his three sons, Rod Womer of Newbury Park, Calif., John Womer of Seminole, Fla., and Steve Womer of Spring Hill, Tenn.; two sisters, Veneta Kinney of Annville, Pa., and Grace Templin of Orlando, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 5, at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 125 S. Spruce St., Annville, Pa. An interment ceremony will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at 2 p.m. on the same day. Rohland Funeral Home Inc., Lebanon, is handling arrangements.
