George W. Albright, 84, of Jonestown passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at his home. He was the husband of Dona M. Neale Albright. Born in Pottstown on September 19, 1923, he was the son of the late Arthur and Sadie Wentzel Albright. He was a licensed thoroughbred horse trainer for 60 years, and raised horses at his farm in Jonestown for the last 34 years. He was a previous member and "whipper-in" with Dr. Todd Addis Fox Hunt in Elverson, and the Pickering Hunt Club in Phoenixville. He served in World War II with the 101st Parachute Infantry (Screaming Eagles), and was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge, earning the Distinguished Unit Badge, the Campaign Medal and the Purple Heart. In addition to his wife he is survived by his sons, George R., husband of Ruth Ann Albright of Annville, and Alfred N. Albright of Jonestown; daughters Amy R. Albright of Chambersburg and Alice W. Albright of Grantville; a brother, Charles Albright of Pottstown; a sister, Maude Taney of Pottstown; four grandchildren, Kaylia, Ashlee, Amber and Nicholas. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Isaac and John Albright; and a sister, Ethel Hampton. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 19, 2008, at 12:30 p.m. at the St. John's United Methodist Church, Grantville. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the RTCA Chaplaincy, Albright Memorial, P.O. Box 88, Grantville, PA 17028.
