Miller shabodeho@aol.com December 24, 2008, 11:40 am Published in the Lebanon Daily News on 12/9/2008 Arndt, Lester Elroy Hershey - Lester Elroy Arndt, 75, of 1050 East Governor Road, Hershey, passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2008, at home, with his family by his side. He was the husband of SallyAnn (Swanger) Arndt, with whom he celebrated their 47th Wedding Anniversary this past June. Born in Hoernerstown, Pennsylvania, on May 8, 1933, he was the son of the late Thomas and Cleona (Woods) Arndt. He worked as an electrician, and he and his father opened a restaurant, Arndt's Sub Base, in 1949, in Hershey. After retiring from the restaurant business in the 1960s, he worked as an independent advertising consultant. Lester is survived by four daughters, Roxanne and her husband, Paul Kuivinen of Tatarstan, Russia, Alisa of Philadelphia, Christina and her husband, Joe Schreiber of Palmyra, Jaimee' of Philadelphia, and Kaitlin of Hershey and her fianc", Matthew Jansen; a son, Aaron of Arlington, Virginia; and was preceded in death by son Jordan; he has three grandsons, Daniel Lester Kuivinen, Timothy Nels Kuivinen and Jack Dylan Arndt-Schreiber; two granddaughters, Hannah Sadie Kuivinen and Veda Rhys ArndtSchreiber; a sister, Cleona Witmer; a brother, Harry; and a sister-in-law, Pauline Arndt; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by five brothers, Benjamin, Charles, Bruce, Samuel, and Tommy Arndt; and one sister, Myrtle Bonawitz. Lester was a member of the Evangelical Free Church of Hershey, where he served for several years as a deacon, and taught Sunday School with his wife. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a doting "Bop-Bop" to his grandchildren. Funeral services will be held in the Evangelical Free Church of Hershey, 330 Hilltop Road, Hershey, Pennsylvania 17033 on Friday, December 12, 2008, at 11 a.m., with Pastor David V. Martin and Pastor Paul H. Haken officiating. Burial will be in United Christian Cemetery, Campbelltown, Pennsylvania, followed by a luncheon at the Evangelical Free Church of Hershey. Viewing will be held Thursday, December 11, 2008, from 6-8 p.m. at Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory, 618 East Main Street, Annville, Pennsylvania 17003, and also on Friday from 1011 a.m. prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Four Diamonds Fund, M.S. Milton Hershey Medical Center, 600 Centerview Drive, Suite 1103, Hershey, PA 17033; or Holt International Children's Services, Post Office Box 2880, 1195 City View, Eugene, Oregon 97402.
