  John E. August, 61, Stouchsburg, died Tuesday, September 2, 2008, in the 
  Lebanon VA Medical Center. He was born in Mahanoy City on February 9, 1947, a 
  son of the late Frank and Kathryn Mulvey August. He was a graduate of Mahanoy 
  Area High School, Class of 1964. He was a member of St. Canicus Catholic 
  Church, Mahanoy City. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1964 to 1967, and 
  was a plank owner, having served on the first crew of the USS Confidence, a 
  cutter out of Baltimore that sailed in the Bering Sea and around the Aleutian 
  islands and Kodiak Island. He is survived by brothers Robert Quinn of Hershey, 
  Francis and wife Elizabeth Ann August of Harrisburg; sister Alice, wife of 
  Robert Estrada of Leesburg, Va. Graveside interment services will be Monday 
  11:30 a.m. in the national cemetery at Fort Indiantown Gap. In lieu of flowers, 
  contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1274, 
  Lebanon, PA 17042.
